Vocal Majority Brings Music to Incarcerated Youth

The Vocal Majority is proud to announce our support and partnership to bring music to incarcerated youth at the Gainesville State School (Gainesville, TX). This new partnership with Harmony Foundation International and their Power of Harmony program aims to change the life trajectory of incarcerated youth by introducing vocal ensemble singing and positive adult role models.

Volunteers, like individual Vocal Majority performers and our quartets, coach the youth, demonstrate cooperation, and arrange live professional performances at the facility.

Last November’s Family Day event at the Gainesville State School was the initial launch to see how the youth and their families would respond. It was a resounding success, and from that experience, there are now six individual VM performers who act as coaches, volunteering their time to work with the youth.

Quartets “Clutch” and “Studio Talk” have performed, and now VM members Jeremy Albright, Donovan Davis, Johnny LeBlanc, Jay Marsh, Doug Williamson, and Clint Woodward go to the Gainesville State School in two-person teams, three times each month to inspire these young men.

In addition to our support of member’s time, the Vocal Majority has donated $5,000 to Power of Harmony to support this worthy cause.
